GEEK OF THE WEEK

KEVIN RICHARDS

Ange:
Hello Mr.Richards. What would you prefer to be called during our interview?

Kevin:
Dr.Awesome.

Ange:
Haha...well Doctor, which category of geekdom would you classify yourself under and why?

Kevin:
I would say that I would classify myself as a computer geek. This is because I have mad skills in the art of IT. Some would say I am a messiah...

Ange:
So, should I call you God instead of Doctor?

Kevin:
No. I am a humble man. There is no need for that.

Ange:
I can tell. Well, the most important question - PC or Mac?

Kevin:
PC if you want compatibility and games. Mac if you want a radical anti-microsoft no fun computer...or if you don't know how to use a computer. I'm also not cool enough to use a Mac.

Ange:
Awww...don't worry Chum, you might be one day. What's the difference between a geek and a nerd?

Kevin:
A geek is really smart at something and a nerd is socially awkward. It's cool to be a geek.

Ange:
So, do you consider yourself part of the "Geek Chic" movement that started in the 1990's, proclaiming "I'm a Geek, and I'm Proud" while waving your floppy disc adorned flag?

Kevin:
Well, I guess you could say that. I remember proclaiming my love for HTML late one night in my teens. I never received a reply and am still emotionally hurt to this day. Some things never go away...

Ange:
Well Mr.Richards, speaking of love, an anonymous study of 2,000 British women and men concluded that out of all jobs, computer geeks make the best lovers...is that true for Canadian computer geeks?

Kevin:
Yes. I am also a master in the art of love. Can you say the same for yourself?

Ange:
Haha...well, I believe I am the one asking the questions here Sir, but if this answers your question - I too consider myself somewhat of a computer geek.

Kevin:
Indeed. I'm glad that's out of the way.

Ange:
Favorite videogame of all time and why?

Kevin:
Crono Trigger for the SNES. It was a groundbreaking game created by Squaresoft. It had multiple endings and the best storyline ever. I still play it sometimes and it is over 15 years old.

Ange:
The classics are ageless. Sometimes I think in this day and age storylines are traded in for better graphics.
Last question: Perhaps a cliché, but if you were a superhero, what superpower would you have and why?

Kevin:
Flying. I have always wanted to fly and dream about it all the time. This is also why I love outdoor rollercoasters. It gives me that feeling of weightlessness.

Ange:
Well Mr.Richards, thank you for letting us have a quick peek into that computer mind of yours. We wish you good luck in the future.

Kevin:
It has been a pleasure. Keep it fresh Homie.
